  1. Annual Easter Carnival

    April 19, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Valley View Senior Life 1417 W Ash St Junction City, KS

    Please join Valley View Senior Life and the Flint Hills JC Morning Rotary Club at our Annual Easter Carnival! There will be a Golden Egg Hunt with 20,000 eggs to be found, Games and fun for all ages, Cotton Candy, Bounce House, Face Painters, Train Rides, and BBQ Hotdogs & Chips! Age brackets for the Easter Egg Hunt are 0-3 years old, 4-7 years old, and 8-11 years old. This event is a fundraiser to help raise funds for a Memorial recognizing our veterans from past wars. It would be located on the right side of the Kansas State Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Heritage Park and would mimic the Purple Heart Memorial located on the left side. All proceeds will be going towards this Memorial.

  2. Friends of the Library Annual Fiesta

    The Friends of the Library will celebrate the close of another great year at their annual party. Great food, great friends, and great fun will pack the “agenda” of this non-meeting meeting. In addition, the winners of the 2014 Summer Reading Bookmark Contest will be presented and the winning tickets drawn for the gift baskets donated by local merchants and organizations. Anyone who joins the Friends by the RSVP deadline will be welcome to attend. Registration deadline: 4/12/2014.

  4. Kansas Birding Festival

    April 25 - April 27 @ Kansas Birding Festival PO Box 175 Wakefield, KS

    Take a birding and wildlife trip you will never forget. Plan now to attend the 2014 Kansas Birding Festival. Over 300 species of birds can be seen in the Milford Lake area. This area is rich in birding opportunities during the later part of April. Not only are there native birds who inhabit the area year round, but it is the prime season for birds that migrate. Combine this with Milford Lake, the wetlands, and the native prairie; and you have the best locations in America for bird sightings. During the festival, guided trips are available to the following areas: Milford Wetlands, Konza Prairie & Flint Hills, KS Landscape Arboretum, Republican River, Milford Lake, Milford Nature Center and Fort Riley (ID required for Fort Riley).

  5. Pasta 58 Bike Tour

    April 26, 7:00 AM @ 12th Street Community Center 1002 W 12th St Junction City, KS

    The Junction City Parks & Recreation Dept. is excited to offer the Pasta 58 again this year. The ride begins in Junction City, travels through Abilene and Chapman and ends up back in Junction City. There will be three SAG stops and free pasta after completion of the course. Feel free to ride all 58 miles of the course or just part of it. Tandems are welcome and helmets are highly recommended.

  6. Celebrating Past Times

    April 26, 11:00 AM - April 27, 4:00 PM @ Spring Valley Historic Site K-18 & Spring Valley Rd. Junction City, KS

    On Saturday join us at the Spring Valley Historic Site and be transported back in time to pioneer days. Explore cabins as the "pioneers" go about their daily chores, learn how they lived long ago, walk with the farmer to learn where their food came from, play games on the lawn, and attend school in a one room schoolhouse. Food and souvenirs will be available for purchase. We will also have the St. Joseph Historic Church & Cemetery open from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. The St. Joseph Church is located on Lower McDowell Creek Rd., I-70 Exit 307. We will have refreshments at the Open House, so if you haven't seen this site yet, we encourage you to go see this wonderful church and cemetery. On Sunday, April 27th come to the Museum and see "Mrs. Starcke" at the Starcke House at 1:30 PM,, and at 3:00 PM in the Museum auditorium Mike Lacer will be talking about toys from pre-1900 to the 1950s. It's also a great time to see the new exhibits and to check out our new items in the gift shop!

  7. Acoustic Junction & USD 475 Student Art Show

    A free concert of acoustic guitar music featuring the best local and regional singers and musicians! Come for awhile or spend the whole evening with us in the beautiful Walker Reception Hall. Before the show be sure to visit the Montgomery Rehearsal Hall upstairs to see the USD 475 Student Art Show! The Art Show will feature works of art from local students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The concert and exhibition are both Free and open to the public!

  8. Ladies' Reading Club Presents the "Great Plains Clarinet Trio"

    April 27, 4:00 PM @ Ladies' Reading Club 224 N Jefferson St Junction City, KS

    Join us for an afternoon of Classical and light Jazz music performed by the "Great Plains Clarinet Trio." The Ladies' Reading Club, a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs Kansas, will host a benefit concert to raise funds for their scholarship fund. The Junction City Ladies' Reading Club was the only club in the state to hold their traditional music auditions for the scholarship awards. This year 32 students from across the state participated in both vocal and instrumental competitions. This is a great opportunity for the public to hear these wonderful musicians play. The concert is free, however a free will offering will be greatly appreciated. Seating is limited.
